The UNESCO Chair opens the new four-year term with Christian Greco

The first autumn event of the UNESCO Chair “Preservation and Planning in Heritage Cities” will be held on December 2, 2025, at the Mantua Campus of the Politecnico di Milano.

The day will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a welcome address by Prof. Davide Del Curto, Vice Rector of the Mantova Campus of the Politecnico di Milano, and an introduction by Prof. Stefano Della Torre, Chairholder of the UNESCO Chair.

At 12:00 p.m., Christian Greco, Director of the Egyptian Museum in Turin, will give a lecture entitled “La memoria è il nostro futuro: l’antico Egitto tra paesaggi, monumenti e musei”  (Memory is our future: ancient Egypt between landscapes, monuments, and museums) The lecture will address the role of culture in current global challenges, including sustainability, access to knowledge, and heritage preservation, with a particular focus on the African continent.

In the afternoon, starting at 2:30 p.m., there will be a presentation of the doctoral research that fuels the work of the UNESCO Chair on the themes of the program approved by UNESCO:
